FEATURED CUSTOM HOME EXTENSION:
Finch Diagnol
One a prominent street corner in the coastal suburb of Somerton Park; this rectilinear addition presents a new and mostly closed face.
As the residents of 104 Diagonal expanded their family, they recognised the necessity to expand their home as well. This expansion wasn’t just about adding extra space, like an additional bedroom or playroom; it was also about integrating a studio for the wife’s flourishing business.
The bespoke extension crafted for this project encompassed a dedicated studio/workspace for the wife’s business, a supplementary living area, an updated kitchen, and a front veranda. Maintaining the vision of their burgeoning family, we opted for an open living concept, seamlessly connecting the extension with the original home. This open-plan design imbued the space with a sense of airiness, luminosity, and an overall expanded feel.
Putting their family first and supporting Bec’s passion and career, this bespoke extension and renovation at the property ensure long-term sustainability for the family. With the extension, Bec can now efficiently manage her successful business, set her own schedule, and still fulfill her desire to be a hands-on mum, creating a fulfilling balance in her life.
Behind each of these tailor-made details is the integration of design and construction needed at every step of the way to achieve our clients dream home. Some of the key features to this newly renovated and extended home include (but aren’t limited to):
“Putting their family first and supporting Bec’s passion and career, this bespoke extension and renovation at the property ensure long-term sustainability for the family.”

“The new open-plan living area. The result is a striking, contemporary kitchen design that exudes a relaxed coastal ambiance.”
Open Floor Plan:
In tandem with the extension, we revamped their original kitchen, seamlessly integrating it into the new open-plan living area. The result is a striking, contemporary kitchen design that exudes a relaxed coastal ambiance. Featuring subtle grains and natural hues, the updated kitchen boasts custom two-tone joinery, white subway tiles, solid oak timber shelving, and Stone Ambassador Fossil countertops, which blend soft grey, earthy browns, and white elements harmoniously. The verdant view above the sink serves as a conduit between the indoor and outdoor spaces, flooding the kitchen with abundant natural light.
Indoor/Outdoor Living:
Additionally, the extension included a cosy living area for the family and an inviting front veranda. This veranda has become a cherished space for the clients, serving as an entertainment area and a tranquil spot to unwind while observing their children play in the lush front yard.
Studio:
The committed team at Finch Constructions collaborated closely with the client to strategically position the studio within the extension. Taking various factors into consideration, we ensured that the design optimised space utilisation while facilitating ease of access for both the family and the clients visiting the wife’s studio. To safeguard the family’s privacy, we positioned the studio on the northern side of the home, allowing for a separate entrance to be created, thereby eliminating the need for clients to traverse through the family’s living quarters.
