Finch Wilkins | A Three-Stage Home Transformation in Glengowrie

A Renovation Journey Shaped Over Time

Some renovation projects become more than just a build. Finch Wilkins is one of those homes.

Over three years, we completed three separate renovations for this Glengowrie family, transforming their 1978 home into a modern, family-friendly space designed for real life. What started as a single renovation in 2023 grew into a long-term relationship built on trust, communication and shared values.

This project is a true example of how thoughtful planning and a strong client relationship can create a cohesive home over time.

Stage One | Kitchen and Open-Plan Living Renovation (2023)

The first renovation focused on updating the home’s exterior and completely rethinking the internal layout.

Originally built in 1978, the home featured closed-off rooms that no longer suited modern family living. Our goal was to create a more open, connected space while maintaining warmth and functionality.

Stage one works included:

Modernising the exterior of the home
Creating open-plan living by combining the kitchen, dining, family and lounge
A full kitchen renovation
Renovation of the ensuite

By opening up the floorplan, we created a light-filled central living area that better reflects how families live today. This stage laid the foundation for the home’s transformation and established a strong working relationship with the clients.

Stage Two | Bathroom and Laundry Upgrade (2024)

After living in their updated home, the clients returned to Finch Constructions to continue the renovation journey. Repeat clients are something we value deeply, and this second stage allowed us to further refine the home’s functionality.

Stage two works included:

Renovation of the main bathroom
A new, practical laundry with improved storage
Updated toilet room

These spaces were designed with everyday use in mind. Soft finishes, clean lines and practical layouts ensure the home works just as well for busy mornings as it does for quiet evenings.

This stage reflects our focus on designing spaces that support daily life, not just aesthetics.

Stage Three | Outdoor Living & Entertaining (2025)

The final renovation stage focused on transforming the outdoor areas into a space for both family life and entertaining.

The brief was clear. Create a kid-friendly outdoor area that also feels inviting for guests and gatherings.

Stage three works included:

Custom concrete seating
Alfresco and decking upgrades
Integrated outdoor cooking space
New driveways and perimeter paths in Milky Way concrete
Hand-finished, custom detailing

The result is an outdoor space designed for long lunches, relaxed evenings and everyday family moments. It brings the entire renovation journey together and connects seamlessly with the interior upgrades completed in earlier stages.
